Why homeowners call us first

A cleaner, safer chimney is one visit away

A chimney is one of the few systems in a home that combines fire, structure, and weather exposure in a single narrow shaft. Neglect any one of those factors and the risk compounds. We built Stone Rise Chimney Expert around a simple standard: every inspection is thorough, every repair is built to last, and every technician treats your home like their own.

Local, dependable service

We know La Mirada’s housing stock — from mid-century ranch homes to newer two-story builds — and the chimney issues common to each. That local knowledge means faster, more accurate diagnoses.

Available around the clock

Chimney emergencies don’t wait for business hours. Whether it’s a damaged cap after a windstorm or a chimney fire scare at midnight, our line is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Straight answers, written estimates

We explain what we find in plain language, show you photos when it helps, and put every recommended repair in writing before any work begins. No pressure, no surprise charges.

The risk of putting it off

Why regular chimney maintenance matters

Every time a fire burns in a wood-burning fireplace or stove, it deposits creosote — a dark, flammable residue — along the interior walls of the flue. Left to accumulate, creosote is the leading cause of residential chimney fires. Beyond fire risk, a chimney is a structural and weatherproofing system: cracked crowns and deteriorated mortar joints let water into the masonry, where it freezes, expands, and accelerates deterioration.

The National Fire Protection Association recommends chimneys, fireplaces, and vents be inspected at least once a year, and swept whenever inspection shows soot or creosote buildup. Even chimneys attached to gas appliances need periodic inspection, since blockages from nesting birds, debris, or deteriorated liners can allow dangerous combustion gases, including carbon monoxide, to enter the home instead of venting outside.

Home / About Us About Stone Rise Chimney Expert

Built on craftsmanship, run like family

We started Stone Rise Chimney Expert to bring honest, thorough chimney service to La Mirada and the surrounding San Gabriel Valley — the kind of work where nothing gets covered up, and every recommendation is one we’d make to our own family.

Our story

Chimney work is a craft, not a checklist

Chimneys are quietly unforgiving. A rushed sweep leaves creosote behind. A patched crown without proper flashing lets water find a new path in. A liner installed to save time instead of to the manufacturer’s specification can fail years later, hidden inside the wall. We built Stone Rise Chimney Expert around the opposite approach: slow down, inspect thoroughly, and do the repair the way it should be done the first time.

That philosophy shapes everything from how we schedule appointments — with enough time to actually finish the job right — to how we write estimates, which spell out exactly what we found and why we recommend each repair. Homeowners in La Mirada, Whittier, Fullerton, and beyond have come to rely on us not just for the technical work, but for a straight answer about what actually needs doing.

What we believe

Our operating principles

  • Every inspection is documented, with photos or video when the issue is hard to see from the ground.
  • We repair what needs repairing — we don’t manufacture work that isn’t necessary.
  • Materials matter: stainless steel liners, code-compliant crowns, and mortar mixed to match the original masonry.
  • Every estimate is written and explained before a single tool comes out of the truck.
  • A job isn’t finished until the work area is cleaner than we found it.
How a service visit works

What to expect when you call Stone Rise

1. You call or request service online

Tell us what’s going on — a routine sweep, a smoky fireplace, a leak, or an emergency — and we’ll find the next available window, including same-day and after-hours appointments.

2. We inspect before we touch anything

A technician examines the chimney from the firebox to the crown, using a camera for the interior flue when needed, and explains exactly what they find.

3. You receive a written estimate

Every recommended repair is itemized and priced up front. Nothing proceeds without your sign-off.

4. We do the work, and clean up after

Drop cloths, dust barriers, and careful cleanup are standard on every visit — not an upgrade.

5. We show you the results

Before-and-after photos, a summary of what was done, and guidance on when to schedule your next inspection.

Every chimney service, under one roof

From a routine annual sweep to a full masonry rebuild, Stone Rise Chimney Expert handles the complete range of chimney, fireplace, and venting work — residential and light commercial, throughout La Mirada and nearby cities.

01

Chimney Sweeping & Cleaning

Creosote and soot buildup are the leading cause of residential chimney fires, and they accumulate every time wood is burned. Our chimney sweeping service removes buildup from the smoke chamber, damper, and full length of the flue using industry-standard rotary and brush systems, followed by a HEPA-filtered vacuum to keep dust out of your living space. We check for animal nests, debris, and obstructions along the way, and flag any structural issues we come across so nothing gets missed.

We recommend a sweep at least once a year for regularly used wood-burning fireplaces and stoves, and sooner if you notice a smoky smell, poor draft, or visible soot on the firebox walls.

02

Chimney Inspection (Level 1, 2 & 3)

A proper inspection is the foundation of chimney safety. We perform Level 1 inspections for chimneys in routine, continued service with no known changes to the system; Level 2 inspections when a home is being bought or sold, after an appliance change, or following a chimney fire or severe weather event, including a video scan of the interior flue; and Level 3 inspections when a Level 1 or 2 inspection uncovers a hidden hazard that requires removing masonry or other components to fully evaluate.

Every inspection includes a written report covering the flue liner condition, crown and cap, flashing, mortar joints, damper, and firebox, along with photos of anything that needs attention.

03

Chimney Repair & Rebuilding

We repair damaged flue tiles, deteriorated mortar joints, spalling brick, and settling foundations, and rebuild chimneys from the roofline up when age or storm damage has gone beyond patch repair. All masonry work is matched to your existing brick and mortar color wherever possible, and built to current code for height, clearance, and flashing.

04

Masonry Repair & Tuckpointing

Mortar joints erode over time from weather exposure and freeze-thaw cycling, allowing water into the chimney structure. Tuckpointing removes the deteriorated mortar to a proper depth and repacks the joint with fresh, color-matched mortar, restoring both the structural integrity and the weathertight seal of the stack.

05

Chimney Cap & Crown Repair

The crown and cap are your chimney’s first line of defense against rain, animals, and downdrafts. We repair cracked concrete crowns, install properly sloped and overhanging crown replacements, and fit stainless steel or copper caps sized correctly for your flue to keep water and wildlife out without restricting draft.

06

Fireplace & Damper Repair

A fireplace that smokes, won’t draft, or has a damper that won’t seal is both an efficiency and a safety problem. We repair and replace dampers, rebuild fireboxes with refractory mortar and firebrick, and diagnose draft issues caused by everything from an undersized flue to nearby trees affecting airflow.

07

Chimney Relining

An unlined, cracked, or undersized flue is one of the most common causes of unsafe venting, allowing heat and combustion byproducts to reach nearby framing. We install rigid and flexible stainless steel liners sized to the connected appliance, as well as cast-in-place liner systems for chimneys where a rigid liner isn’t practical, restoring safe and efficient venting for wood, gas, and oil appliances alike.

08

Chimney Waterproofing

Water is the single most damaging force a chimney faces — more chimneys fail from moisture intrusion than from fire. We apply vapor-permeable, breathable waterproofing sealants that stop rain penetration while still allowing existing moisture inside the masonry to escape, preventing the trapped-moisture damage that non-breathable sealants can cause.

09

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Lint-clogged dryer vents are a leading cause of residential appliance fires and make your dryer work harder, run hotter, and cost more to operate. We clear the full vent run from the appliance to the exterior termination, check the vent cap and damper, and confirm proper airflow before we leave.

10

24/7 Emergency Chimney Services

Storm damage, a fallen tree limb, a chimney fire, or sudden water intrusion doesn’t wait for a convenient time. Our line is staffed 24 hours a day, every day of the year, for urgent repairs, temporary weatherproofing, and safety assessments so your home is protected until permanent repairs can be completed.

Questions we hear often

Service FAQs

How often should my chimney be swept?

Most wood-burning fireplaces and stoves used regularly through the season should be swept once a year. Chimneys used less frequently may go longer between sweeps, but should still be inspected annually to check for creosote buildup, blockages, or animal activity.

Do gas fireplaces need chimney service too?

Yes. While gas appliances don’t produce creosote the way wood fires do, the venting system can still develop blockages, corrosion, or liner damage that affect safe operation. An annual inspection is recommended for gas appliances as well.

How do I know if my chimney needs repair rather than just cleaning?

Signs include white staining (efflorescence) on the exterior brick, a rusted damper or firebox, crumbling mortar joints, a leaning or separating chimney structure, or a smell of damp masonry. A Level 2 inspection with a video flue scan is the most reliable way to know for certain.

Do you offer emergency service after hours?

Yes, our line is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays, for urgent chimney and fireplace issues.

Do you provide a written estimate before starting repairs?

Always. We walk you through what we found, explain the recommended repair, and provide an itemized written estimate before any work begins.

Not sure which service you need?

Tell us what you’re seeing or hearing from your chimney and we’ll recommend the right starting point.
